VEAL AND HAM FARMHOUSE PIE

COOKBOOK: Entertaining with House Keeping

RATE: ❤️❤️❤️👌🏻👌🏻💲💲

A cookbook dating back to 1979 with good old home made cooking ideas and recipes.

This is another cookbook passed on to me, thanks mum!

An old way of making a great pie! Love the bacon steak with the veal! Simple and delicious!

Enjoy

RECIPE

Serves 6

Olive oil

1.2Kg veal steaks, cut up into 2.5cm cubes

500g bacon steaks, cut up into 2.5cm cubes

350g onions, peeled and cut into 2.5cm pieces

Finely grated lemon rind, 1 lemon

8 tablespoons of fresh parsley, chopped finely

10 tablespoons mango chutney

salt & pepper

6 tablespoons of cornflour

2 sheets of puff pastry

1 egg, beaten to glaze

Heat the oil in a deep frying pan. Fry the onion until just soft. Add the bacon and fry for a further 3-4 mins. Add the chopped veal and stir fry for a few minutes longer. Add the chutney, salt and pepper and lemon rind, mix well. Turn heat down to low.

Add the cornflour in batches and mix immediately after you have added to mixture.

Remove from heat. Place the meat mixture into a oven casserole dish and spread evenly. Cover with puff pastry sheet. Cut off any overlay of pastry. Seal with a fork on all edges and brush with beaten egg.

Bake for 15-20mins or until golden brown.

Let stand for 5-10mins before cutting and serving.
