This name describes these little beauties beautifully! They were delicious! These can be served as a snack or a side dish with tomato sauce.
I found these quite easy to make and in no time I had made over 24 pasties. I didnt have a 12cm pastry cutter so I used a cup that came close in size and it did the job perfectly.
i had some left over for the following day and they were just as good!
Enjoy
RECIPE
MAKES 24
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 brown onion, finely chopped
350g beef mince
1 carrot, peeled and grated
1 turnip, peeled and grated
1 potato,peeled and grated
125ml beef stock
Salt & pepper
2 tablespoons tomato paste
120g frozen peas, thawed
6 sheets frozen shortcrust pastry, thawed
1 egg, lightly whisked
tomato sauce, to serve
Preheat oven to 200C. Line 3 large baking trays with greaseproof paper.
Heat oil in frying pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until soft. Add the mince and cook, stirring with a wooden spoon to break up the lumps. Cook until mince is cooked through.
Add the stock, tomato paste, peas, grated carrots, grated turnip, grated potato, salt and pepper. Brig to boil and simmer until for approx 7-10mins until liquid evaporates.. Set aside, leave to cool , approx 20mins.
Place the pastry sheet on a flat surface. Use a 12cm diameter pastry cutter to cut 4 circles from each sheet. Place two spoonfuls in the centre of each pastry. Brush the edge of pastry with water. Bring two sides up to centre to enclose the filling. Press the edges to seal, then crimp to make a wave edge. Place seal side up on the lined tray. Brush with egg. Bake for 20mins or until golden brown. Serve with tomato sauce.
