When I told the family I was making cauliflower and broccoli bake, they all turned their noses. When I served it, they couldn’t get enough. This should be a lesson to us all, never look at the ingredients too closely because what you may expect not to be delicious turns out to be super delicious!

Cauliflower is full of unique antioxidants that reduce inflammation and protects against several deceases such as cancer and heart decease. Broccoli helps to regulate blood pressure and reduces cholesterol. Broccoli helps protect blood vessels from damaging. You have here two excellent vegetables which are extremely good for your health.

Super easy to make. This is one excellent way to serve vegetables and have everyone enjoy it




Serves 6

400g chopped broccoli florets, rinsed

400g chopped cauliflower, rinsed

40g butter

1/4 cup plain flour

1 cup of fresh cream

1 1/2 cup of beef stock

Salt and pepper

Lemon , juice

120g Parmesan or tasty cheese, grated

Steam or microwave the broccoli and cauliflower, approx 8minutes on high. Be very careful when removing the lid, the steam is very hot!

Melt butter in a small pan on low heat. Add the flour and stir until it comes off the edges of the pan. Gradually start adding the broth in batches and whisk vigorously until smooth in texture. Keep at very low temp. Add the cream and mix well. Add lemon juice, salt and pepper. Place the the cooked broccoli & cauliflower in a casserole dish and spread evenly. Add the white sauce over the vegetables and combine well. Add the grated cheese over the top and bake for 20-25mins or until golden and cooked through. Allow it to stand for 5mins before serving.
