OMG. Basically this is all I can say! I’m not a huge fan of chilli but I can assure you that this was the best popcorn I have ever eaten! Could you taste the chilli? No…. Was it hot in taste? No….. It had a delicious flavour that I was not expecting. The sweetness of the caramel along with the peppery taste of the chilli, this combination works extremely well with the palette. This is a must-try!


Makes approx 4 cups (1 packet)

100g butter flavoured microwavable popcorn

100g butter, chopped

2/3 cup of sugar

2 tablespoons of honey

1 long red chilli, chopped finely

Microwave the popcorn in the bag as per instructions.

Line a tray with greaseproof paper. Place the popcorn to cool off.

in a saucepan, add the butter, sugar and honey over medium heat. Stir until sugar has dissolved. Bring mixture to boil. Allow it to boil without stirring for approx 5-7mins or until lightly golden in colour. Stir in chilli. You can stir the mixture directly over the popcorn or place the popcorn in a bowl and add the mixture. Combine well. Work quickly to ensure all the popcorn is coated in the caramel chilli mixture.

The caramel mixture will set very quickly. Break the popcorn into pieces and serve.
