STEAK & CHIPS WITH GREEN BEANS

Updated: Jun 7, 2019

COOKBOOK: Save with Jamie

A good steak is never rejected in this household!

Some  crispy hot chips don’t either! We add the healthy green beans to remind us that we have to eat our vegetables, and the combination was just perfect!

Hope you enjoy

RECIPE

Serves 4

800g potatoes, peel and cut into 5cm strips

Olive oil for frying

1 large onion, halved and sliced finely

150g button mushrooms, halved

50ml fresh cream

1 teaspoon dijon mustard

400g green beans, ends removed

4 cloves garlic

500g beef steak

Tenderise the meat. Season the steak with salt & pepper and rub a little olive oil.

Heat the olive oil (5-7cm deep). Once hot, add the potatoes and fry approx 5-7mins on each side until golden brown. Remove from oil and let them rest on paper towels. Sprinkle salt on them.

In the meantime, heat a small amount of oil in another frying pan and add the garlic. Fry for a minute or until soft, add the onions. Fry until onions are soft. Add the salt & pepper, mushrooms, mustard and cream. Let it simmer for approx 6-7mins. Take off heat and set aside.

Heat a BBQ or the grill. Cook the steak approx 5-6mins on each side for medium rare or cook to your liking.

In another pan, heat olive oil and fry lightly green bean, approx 4-5mins. Remove from heat.

Serve meat over the mushroom sauce, also add some of the sauce over the meat. Serve side dishes of potato chips & beans.
